Hello!
My name is Amy Rivera, and I work in the Office of Mayor Daniel Rickenmann. We’re excited to share that Columbia has been selected to participate in the second round of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund! With 84% of young people worldwide concerned about climate change, this global initiative empowers young leaders (ages 15–24) to develop real climate solutions.
Through this program, Columbia has received $100,000 to support microgrants for youth-led climate projects. Whether it’s tree planting, recycling initiatives, public education campaigns, or climate preparedness programs, we’re looking for creative and impactful ideas that help our community meet sustainability goals.
Applications are open now through March 22, 2025! If you’re part of an organization or group working with young people and have a great climate project in mind, we encourage you to apply. A flyer is attached for easy sharing. The website is also linked here and below to access further information and the application.
We hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to make a lasting impact in our city and community. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me or Mary Pat Baldauf, Sustainability Administrator, at mary.b...@columbiasc.gov.
Let’s make a difference- one climate project at a time.
All the best,
