Hi I have set up a custom 9x50 finderscope in the eyepieces page, but for some reason every time I to to eyepiece view and select that finder, It only shows the object that is selected (in the middle of the circle) but doesn't shiow any other object nearby. This is preventing me from using the software to plan star hopping.
Additionally when I am in eyepiece view, I'd like to see not olnly the objects in the eypepiece FOV (which is what I get now) but also the ones nearby, in order to better plan my star hopping. How can I enable that?
Thanks!
Angelo

What parameters did you use for the eyepiece? If you did not check "binoculars" (which is probably what you need), you might have to combine it with a telescope.

Try following values (just to see if those work):
- check "binoculars"
- tFOV 5.5
- factor 8
- diameter 50

Test this on Moon or e.g. Jupiter, to get an idea of the actual scale

Maybe magnitude filtering is removing stars? Check (F4) that magnitude is totally open, Bortle class is 1. stars are shown
Or maybe the FOV is far too small, so nothing is seen?
Can you try following shortcuts and see if your view changes:
  • 'm' - MIlky Way
  • 'd' - DSO - deep space objects
  • 'a' - atmosphere
  • 'i' - DSO backgrounds
  • 's' - stars

I would use factor=9 for a 9x50. tFOV should be given on the instrument or in its manual. But that was not the question.

Stellarium moves the selected object into the center. This is on purpose.
Please see the configuration dialog of the Oculars plugin and the User Guide for the other options you asked.

The plugin is undergoing a revision. Some optimisations may be under way, but I cannot say how long this will take.
