I'm on the Intel macOS version.

I'm looking to set my viewing location to earth's center.  I tried setting my location to 0'0' and the depth to -6,378,137 meters, (the Earth's radius at the equator) but the interface only allows me to set a maximum depth of -2000 meters.  I found some old (2013) advice elsewhere for setting a custom location in the file ssystem.ini in users...\appdata\stellarium\data, but no such file exists on my mac.  I found a file called base_locations.bin.gz but it’s not editable, when I open it in a text editor I can tell it has data I can recognize in it but it’s all garbled.

Thanks for any help!

You want to switch off Topocentric Correction. If you don't find the switch, please use a PDF viewer and search the introductory chapters of the User Guide.

Thank you so much Georg!  I noticed your name on the first page of the user guide, thanks for your part in making such lovely software for the world, and for teaching me a new word and giving the best solution I didn't even know I needed, and it is precisely what I needed.
