I'm having trouble connecting to celestrak.org.  (I hope I
didn't cause it by aggressive testing.)  To investigate
I disconnected from Internet and tried:
satellites -> configure -> Update Now.

The GUI gives no indication of a problem other
than that "Last Update" doesn't change.
I do see in the log:

[ 117.343][WARN] [Satellites] FAILED to download "https://mmccants.org/tles/classfd.zip" Error: "Host mmccants.org not found"

[ 117.343][WARN] [Satellites] FAILED to download "https://www.amsat.org/amsat/ftp/keps/current/nasabare.txt" Error: "Host www.amsat.org not found"

[ 158.581][WARN] [Satellites] Internet update already in progress!

[ 290.191][WARN] [Satellites] Internet update already in progress!

But I started from GUI and (like I suspect many users) rarely check

the log.It would be valuable to provide an indication in the GUI

o Of any operation that failed.

o Of any operation in progress, incomplete.

Celestrak probably has safeguards to prevent users from logging in too often.

It would be a nice enhancement if Stellarium could unzip and directly update classfd.zip

Ouch!  Has celestrak put me in a teergrube?
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarpit_(networking)>
Can I repair my reputation?
I get a similar failure on a public Windows machine.

I have no GPS.  If I click "Get Location from GPS," the
button turns yellow, indicating the failure.  If I disconnect
from network and click the "Get Location from Network"
checkbox (which should be an action button instead,"
I get no such obvious indication of failure.

Or opened a file dialog which created a "file:''" URL.

For Celestrak, log on less frequently than every few hours.

I wrote to Dr. Kelso asking for help.  He replied:

"We don’t have a blacklist. Users get blocked,
either temporarily or put in the firewall,
    based on their behavior.

Your IP address was put in the firewall for
ignoring 152 HTTP 301 (Permanently Moved)
responses, telling you that you are using old
software. That means you are unlikely to
realize that the TLE format will no longer be
    usable in about 2 months.
    "

"blocked" but not blacklisted feels like a distinction
without a difference.  My entire apartment building
seems blocked, but I may be the only one who cares.

"... the TLE format will no longer be usable in
about 2 months."  How will this affect Stellarium?

Elsewhere on Celestrak (Iused a different IP,) it says
the preferred method of access is by a Windows app,
available from the site.  Must I buy a Windows PC
to use Celestrak data?

The latest 2 snapshots of Stellarium has tool to parse CelesTrak's CSV files - you need just reset list of sources in Satellites plugin to use it.

Will 26.2 be available before TLE become obsolete?

Will users who don't upgrade promptly be blocked
by firewall?

I don't believe I ever used a client that ignored
301 responses.

The release of version 26.2 is planned to June 21 currently.

Maybe. The CelesTrak firewall is out of our hands and we can't say how it will run in next few months. Of course we can't predict the new limitations too.

Well, in any way we need to testing the changes in Satellites plugin in various environment.
