What does screen_number do?

In config.ii I find
screen_number = 0

If I change the value to 3, or just delete the line
it seems to have no effect. It comes back to 0
when I Save Settings.

It's not mentioned in guide.pdf.

(I was looking for a way to control which screen the Stellarium
main window starts in. But there are other ways.)

Unless you have 4 screens attached to your system, 3 may not work and fall back to 0, but I am not in the position to test that. I can find the string searching the PDF, on page 75. 0 is what most people have on 1-screen systems, 1 means second screen etc. I am not sure if we actively store it or just accept it as startup config for permanent installations like planetaria.

Thanks. There's an OS setting for this which works well enough:
<https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/mac-help/mh14112/mac>

I merely wondered if Stellarium prefers an alternate way.

And around 25.1 fixed a bug that distorted windows moved
between screens with different resolution, so it matters
less where I start.

I habitually run 5 Workspaces (virtual screens) on my MacBook Pro.
Is stellarium aware of those? :-)

Just curious; it matters little and I'm dealing with it.

No. Stellarium can launch at specific physical screen only.
