There does not appear to be any way to hide the selection cursor or cross hairs once an object is selected. I've scoured the user guide and searched elsewhere, but I've come up empty-handed. Does anyone know how these can be hidden without deselecting the object?
For example, if I select a planet, the rotating red selection cursor (or the white cross-hair target symbol for stars), and then center the object (pressing Space), there is no way to keep the object centered and hide the selection cursor (say, for example, if you want Jupiter to remain centered while viewing its rotation and its moons orbiting). Of course, you can deselect the object, but then the object will no longer be centered and will start moving as usual (assuming that 'time' is not stopped). As a result, there is no way to get clean screenshots or make video clips without those annoying and distracting cursors always present.
It would be great if the devs could make them disappear when Ctrl-T is used to toggle the UI (since these selection cursors really do constitute part of the UI). To me, this option seems like the most logical approach, since the stats for the selected object get hidden anyway. In addition to this, it would be nice to be able to remove/hide them when Esc is pressed. They would automatically reappear when selecting another object. This latter solution would allow screenshots or video clips to include the object stats without the selection cursors. So, it would be nice if both options were available.
