Hello, I have been using stellarium for years on earlier macs and OS's.  last year when I upgraded to a MacBook pro with an M1 chip, the performance was very slow, and I am also having a problem with the ocular view function.  my previous hardware profiles transferred over to the new install, but now I no longer can switch between different eyepieces while using the program- the little side arrows are gone. the ocular view I get is  whatever is in the 3rd position down in the list under the utilities menu. Both of these issues are also reproducible in my MacBook air M1,  running MacOS13. version of stellarium is 23.1.0.

thank you for any suggestions

Eric

This is the user forum. We indeed expect basic computer skills. You don't need to be a programmer to follow written instructions in English to modify a plaintext file.
For a better understanding of the program and the what-goes-where, maybe read the introductory part and the chapter about using "Stellarium at the Telescope" of the Stellarium User Guide which we also have written for users.

Eric,

This page may be of some help.  You need to locate the oculars.in file in the User Data directory on your Mac.

MacOS's Finder doesn't make it particularly easy to navigate to this location, but at least you'll now have a clue where to find it.

BTW, make sure you are using the "arm64" version of Stellarium on your M1 Mac.  If you use the "x86_64" version, you are running in compatibility mode, and performance will not be optimal.

Clear skies,

Tony
