I am suddenly unable to control the time in Stellarium. The stop/resume button does not work and I can not manually set the time. I received an error message saying that Windows 11 was blocking part of the app for security reasons. To fix this, I turned off the Smart App Control and then restarted my PC. I also downloaded a fresh copy of Stellarium (ARM64). However, the problem has persisted. Thanks to anyone who is able to help.

Sorry to say, but while installed software usually does not suddenly change, it's the automatic "OS security updates" that permanently interfere with users' experience. SAC (which interfered with ASCOM use on ARM) was actually satisfied in V26.1 by signing the program and adding the manifest file describing .NET use. You could try to rollback a few Windows updates with more chances for success, and if you identify the culprit, send the KB number to MS please. I have not yet experienced this (have not received this wonderful "update") on our test system.

Kind regards,
Georg

Installed updates yesterday. No issues on my ARM system with V26.1 so far. A simple reboot sometimes also helps. Or you can try the Remote Control web interface.   Good luck!

Yesterday/today was published weekly snapshot of Stellarium also - with changes in Satellites plugin - it may be helpful too.

Georg - Rebooting did not help. I am running the Remote Control web interface but I don’t know how to use it. (For example, how to set the time.) Is there a guidebook? Thanks.

As always, the Stellarium User Guide is your first stop to look into. Chapter 13.6. Visual similarities with the default GUI should provide clues for operating.

On what device/browser are you running the Remote Control? With Firefox on Mac, I wee the date/time window in the upper left. With Safari on iPhone I scroll down one screen to see it. It appears like guide.pdf 26.1; 13.6.1 Using the plugin
Figure 13.6: The default remote control web interface

Tapping above or below a number changes the time. Does changing Stellarium's time affect any protected System settings? I hope not.

Paul - Thanks very much. I am now able to pause/resume and set the time. My next problem is setting the observer’s latitude and longitude. I can see how to move the pointer on the map but I want to input specific coordinates for several locations and save them. Can anyone help with that?

For "coordinates for several locations ", I can think only of writing a script for each. I have copied examples from distributed scripts at times. -- gil

The Remote Control UI (Location tab to modify location) is deliberately limited to select preconfigured locations. But you can always modify by coordinates.
If the problem persists, you can edit your privately added locations in your data/user_locations.txt file (Make a backup copy. Its format is not easy to edit, depends on tabs.) and then display in the RC UI.

Or create a Landscape for each location.  Use a generic horizon
if you don't have a photographic panorama.
(I have never done this.)  See guide.pdf 26.1 7.1.1 Location information

Jay and Paul - Thanks for your replies.

Jay - The remote control user interface does not respond to F6.

We don't know how broken your system really is. If the Location Dialog in the main program works (F6), you can add locations there as Jay described. If not, you can edit a text file. Is this the only program that is broken now on your ARM system? Have you tried to switch off this SAC "security feature" altogether (your risk, of course; unfortunately it cannot be finetuned on application level.).

Georg - F6 works on the version that I run on my PC, but I cannot control the time. F6 does not work on the remote control (web-based) version. Stellarium seems to be the only program that is broken. Thanks.

Elsewhere in this thread F6 was mentioned.  But Remote Control
is a browser facility.  I wouldn't expect a browser to support it
barring elaborate Javascript.

"for several locations and save them." How many is "several"? 3? 10? 100? What is your ultimate objective? I envision a sort of slide show. If so, how would you select a "slide" or advance to the next "slide"? There are several distributed "Screensaver" scripts which behave like slide shows. Remote Control might be useful for display because it does not clutter the Sky View. I find it cumbersome for authoring.
