The default is 4x which works well in our planetarium dome when the Sun and Moon are in different parts of the sky. But if I run a script or bookmark of either solar or lunar eclipse disks are 4x too large to animate the appearance proper timings. They need to be set as  1x. Otherwise, I need to bring up the SS menu on the dome to make the changes which is distracting and clumsy to the audience.  A keystroke toggle would be handy.

Just toggle the magnification setting in your script.

Please check public methods in SolarSystem class -
https://stellarium.org/doc/24.0/classSolarSystem.html - all of them are available in scripts.

Hint: see Moon and Sun keywords ;)

And you don't need to show any menu to the audience. We have created the RemoteControl plugin in 2015 for presenters. It is vastly more complete than and is meant to replace the old text user interface plugin that also avoids showing GUI panels.

Thank you Georg

As for the RemoteControl plugin, I had no idea it existed. Where can I find it? I do recall the GUI from years ago but it was always several versions behind the latest version of Stellarium.

As any other plugin, it can be activated in the plugin dialog. You may also want to study the User Guide to see what else is available or can be done with the program.

Did Martin say he uses a Macintosh? With mine I can
start Stellarium in one workspace (which might be the
dome projector), then Configuration -> Plugins ->
Remote Control -> Load at Startup. Then in a browser
(Firefox) in another workspace http://127.0.0.1:8090
for the remote control. (The contrast should be
greater.)
