Can't add file:// URL to satellites

On:
Stellarium 26.1
Version 26.1.0 (64-bit)
Based on Qt 6.9.3
Running on Operating System macOS Sequoia (15.7.4)

I have added TLEs as ffile:// URLs by editing config.ini
but I thought there's a better way:
In Satellites->Sources GUI I removed one line.
I unchecked "Update from Internet"
I clicked "Update now", opening a File Manager dialog.
I navigated to the file if the URL I had deleted
I clicked "Open"
The entry was not added.

(Did Martin have greater success?)
