Senior Program Manager-NYC

Our client who is in the financial and commodities industry is looking for a senior Project Lead/Program Manager for a 6 month contract in NYC.

 

Description

 

As a Senior Program Management consultant you will manage complex technology and business solution development projects for our clients from the financial and commodities industry. In this role you will encompass all facets of project management, client management and team leadership within a multidisciplinary, globally distributed work environment.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        Oversee project estimations.

·        Oversee the development and tracking of integrated project plans.

·        Oversee the development of project deliverables in order to meet project objectives.

·        Establish and maintain processes to manage scope, risk and issues throughout the project lifecycle.

·        Establish and maintain project communications and information systems.

·        Set project quality and performance standards.

·        Lead team of 15+ people and provide career development, direction and motivation to team.

·        Ensure key project-wide roles and responsibilities are defined.

·        Drive knowledge sharing and learning from project experiences.

·        Manage peer-level client relationships as well as third-party partner and/or vendor relationships.

·        Engage in business development activities.

·        Provide day-to-day project contact for the client.

·        Participate in recruitment and hiring activities as well as engage in training and internal initiatives.

·        Contribute to the ongoing development of the program management domain and support knowledge sharing.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

·        Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, Financial Services Operations or related field; MBA or Master of Science, Computer Science highly desirable.

·        Deep relevant work experience in project management and business analysis successfully delivering solutions within investment banking, asset management or commodities trading environments.

·        Experience within asset management specifically with fund management platforms, investment operations and support processes.

·        Experience with various Products, Asset Classes, Derivatives, Listed and OTC Instruments.

·        Ability to work with Front-office, Middle and Back-office business, operations and technology executives, SMEs and developers to translate business problems into solutions and an actionable plan.

·        Knowledge and/or practical experience of commonly used standards, practices and methodologies including, but not limited to: CMMI/PMP, PRINCE, UML, OOA/OOD, Agile, Waterfall,  Structured Analysis/Functional Decomposition, Enterprise Architecture, QA/Testing Methodologies, Root-cause Analysis and Change Management.

·        Must have sound understanding of project financials and cost drivers and expertise leveraging the appropriate time, cost and scope levers to ensure success of projects and programs.

·        Experience with commercial software development and delivery with multiple full project lifecycles from business development to final delivery.

·        Ability to work with On-shore and Offshore development and support organizations.

·        Experience working in a consulting firm or client-facing role.

·        Proven team leadership experience leading diverse, globally distributed teams of 15+ people including managerial experience.

·        Hands-on development skills highly desired.

·        Client communication experience with accountability for executive level client relationships.

·        Must have a service-oriented mindset and be able to work well with others.

·        Self-starter with drive, initiative and appetite to solve complex problems.

·        Must have outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, strong listening skills and solid presentation skills.

·        Expert in MS Office suite of applications - Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

·        Outstanding time management and prioritization skills.

·        Openness to travel and work at client offices.
