Job Description:
The Windows Server Administrator duties include extensive
infrastructure implementation, deployment and support of technologies
related to server platforms including Microsoft OS, Linux and VMWare.
Configuration and implementation in project deployments. This includes
development of images, testing, implementation and documentation.
Support and maintenance of server and storage technologies. Support
implementation of server technologies solutions to satisfy business
and infrastructure needs. Monitoring the availability and utilization
of server infrastructure resources for optimization and Maintain the
integrity of servers and storage resources, including work with data
recovery tools. Performing preventative maintenance tasks server
patching, updates, upgrades. Ensuring compliance with the
organizations data centers and security standards are enabled.
Racking, Stacking, Installation, upgrade, connections and cabling of
servers within the data center, and in the schools including server
additions and removals. Loads OS and troubleshoot problems with
initial installation, connectivity, and Monitor problems. Monitoring
system performance along with tuning and capacity planning. Advanced
Hardware troubleshooting inquires in-depth knowledge of all hardware
in standard builds, particularly RAID configuration and
troubleshooting. Compliance with organizations operating standards and
change control processes. Work on trouble tickets and follow-up on
service request with server vendors.

Candidates Must Have Requirements:
• Expert knowledge in physical server platforms including DELL, HP,
Blade Servers, virtualized servers including VM-Ware and Hypervisor.
• Expert knowledge in specifying network connectivity requirements,
data center cabling, Cat5 trunks, fibers bundles, electrical
requirements, KVMs, Racks, patch panels, and peripherals.
• Ability to quickly and efficiently create parts and equipment lists
for Server components, electrical, network cabling, Racking components
through research of option and providing alternatives.
• Researching, compiling, evaluating and providing servers
specification to fulfill solution requirements.
• Must posess your own Windows-based Laptop Computer
• BS in Computer Engineering/science or technical emphasis or relevant
experience is required.
• Minimum 5 years of design, build implementation and support
experience with Microsoft server and application technologies
including DNS, DHCP, WINS, SMS, MOM/SCOM, Windows Server
2000/2003/2008 and Active Directory.
• Minimum 5 years experience, installing, configuring, monitoring, and
troubleshooting server hardware and related data center equipment.
• Good technical documentation, problem solving and analytical
skills.
• Strong aptitude and technical knowledge of Windows operating systems
and related services (AD, IIS, file services, terminal services,
etc.).
• Strong technical design, implementation, and troubleshooting
knowledge of Linux based systems.
• Proficient in Internet protocols and standards such as LDAP, TCP/IP,
FTP, DHCP, WINS, DNS and related management tools.
• Knowledgeable in monitoring solutions such as SCOM, HP OpenView,
ticket tracking system(s), patch management tools, such as Bigfix and
Altiris.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills and ability
to thrive in a team-based environment. Work on server build/rebuild
requests, event log monitoring and review, performance analysis,
hardware performance monitoring and domain management.
• Ability to lift up, install, cable, network, power up servers in
data centers and in School MDFs unassisted. Ability to adapt to
rapidly changing priorities and conditions.
• Document of all work and server environment.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills utilizing MS Word,
MS Project, MS Excel and Visio.
• Ability to perform after hours shift work.
• Analytical skills in identifying problems, determining causes,
suggesting and implementing solutions. Attention to detail – follows
detailed procedures and existing standards.

Desired Certifications:

• MCSE/ MCITP.
