Hello validators!

We’ve just announced the readiness date for the Protocol 20 Mainnet Upgrade: Tuesday, January 30, 2024. That's the date by which we are asking the ecosystem to make sure their integrations are compatible with Protocol 20. The actual network upgrade vote hasn't been scheduled yet, but it will likely happen around that time as well.

Before that date, you should plan to update and install the Stellar Core v20.0.0 Stable Release, which we estimate to be available around December 19th.  As mentioned in a recent blog post we deprecated support for Ubuntu 18.04 packages, so if you install from packages, check to make sure you're running a compatible version of Ubuntu.

Since Protocol 20 introduces new network settings that validators control, the initial upgrade vote will be followed by a series of additional votes to adjust those settings. We plan to upgrade the settings in a series of phases, as can be found here. We’ll coordinate with you as we plan the votes to upgrade the network and update settings. This upgrade is more complex than any in the past, and so it will require more communication, participation, and cooperation than normal over the next few months.

If you have any questions or feedback, please let us know.

Best,
Naman
