Last week, the CAP Core Team completed reviewing and approving the 12 CAPs that describe the changes to stellar-core and the Stellar Protocol necessary to enable the Soroban smart contract system. Today, those CAPs move into Final Comment Period pending acceptance.
There is now one week to raise major concerns that have not been previously addressed, which you can do by replying to this thread. If there are no concerns, the CAPs will be accepted and planned for inclusion in Protocol 20.
You can find all the CAPs listed in CAP-46, which provides a Soroban smart contract system overview.
Exciting!
Today, after a quiet Final Comment Period in which no major concerns were raised, the 12 Soroban CAPs were formally accepted. Woohoo!
The changes described by these CAPs are being implemented in Protocol 20, which will enable support for Soroban smart contracts on Stellar.
If you have a project built on Stellar, make sure to check out the Protocol 20 Upgrade Guide for information about what you need to do to prepare for the Mainnet upgrade. TL;DR: everyone should install new versions of any and all Stellar-related software by January 30, 2024 to ensure compatibility with the new protocol.
We're getting close, people! Stay tuned for more info.
