Hey STeLA 2014!!I'm emailing out about the beginning of a new reading group I want to get started. The motivation here is that we have a wonderful resource we use for leadership, the book The Fifth Discipline, by Peter Senge, which I have found useful within and outside the forum itself. I think it'd be great for us to read and discuss this book, as it should also strengthen our collective understanding of the leadership material. So the format I'm thinking would be as so:We'll have about 2 weeks to read a chapter or section from the book. Then we'll meet and discuss the book for an hour or so.Meetings will pair up two branches and rotate each time, so for instance, first week will be CN/JP and US/EU, etc. This way we can be discussing within branches, and we can keep group sizes relatively small so everyone can speak. We'll also need a rep from each branch to co-host the meetings and this will rotate. Please see the doc linked here (shared in our drive) for a tentative line-up.This is open to anyone on staff. If you are developing a content/leadership session or thinking you will be a facilitator, I highly recommend you participate. And if you are neither of these, I still recommend you participate as it is what this forum is built on and do you ever get stuck in that situation where someone asks you "What's STeLA" and your like "Hmmm..."?I'd like for people to actually purchase the book or ebook. It isn't expensive and will be valuable for you for years. If you absolutely cannot pay for a book, please let me know and we'll work something out.Send me an email if you are interested! And if you are interested in leading a discussion, please put your name in the google doc. This basically just means you'll help set up the meeting and ask some questions based on the reading to get discussion going.Thanks!-g$

Hey Staff! Thanks for all the responses and support! Definitely seems like this will be interesting and valuable for many. Please check the google doc. I've put in dates for meetings as well as the chapters we'll start with for the first several weeks. Some of you mentioned you would like to lead a discussion, please put your name somewhere on the doc! (still need a Japan rep for the first session!)Meetings will be every 2 weeks with about 30-40 pages. It's more than I read (:p) so if its too much, please let me know!I will send out discussion questions for each of them before meetings so that we can sync up a bit between the meetings.I am not going to make a separate mailing list. That being said, please use our mailing lists to coordinate between the branch pairsSo for the first meeting, JJ and I will email to us-staff/eu-staff, and then Neil and other Japanese staff will email to jp-staff/cn-staff.Please send more comments, questions, interests, gifts of significant monetary value. Thanks all!HAPPY NEW YEAR!-g$
