Johnny Hartman discography is played regularly on Sirius radio on the Sinatra channel(channel 70). He was an extraordinary singer with a wonderful range of songs. Although I listen to his music often, I was unaware of his lack of recognition until I read this article. He definitely belongs in the same category as Billy Eckstine, Nat King Cole, Arthur Prysock, among many others-all true artists who suffered terrible indignities due to racism. It is so sad that these talented individuals endured so much-their dignity and talent survive and are only enhanced.

Thank you for this beautiful insight in the work and life of Johnny Hartman. I ordered the disc right away. As an Ivy and Jazz aficionado I love contributions about Jazz, especially when written by GBB. Merci beaucoup !
