Hamurg (AP): Tennis legend Steffi Graf is having a center for
traumatized refugee children built in her native Germany.
The center in Hamburg should be able to treat up to 300 children and
teenagers a year. The headquarters of Graf's Children for Tomorrow
foundation, which the 38-year-old retired tennis legend founded nine
years ago, also is to be built on the grounds of the port city's
Eppendorf University Clinic.
The two-story center is expected to be ready in November 2008, clinic
director Joerg Debatin told the daily Hamburger Abendblatt. The clinic
confirmed the report on Friday.
Graf attended a private groundbreaking ceremony at the site several
weeks ago, according to the report, and her foundation signed the
contract for the project last week.
