Dear Greg
Embracing diversity is something that we as an organisation and a movement are striving towards, and part of being a Friends of the Earth group is about being accessible to newcomers, whatever their background or circumstances. As our Partnership Agrement states,
'membership of a Friends of the Earth local group should be open to all people regardless of their race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, class, marital status, age or political affiliation. Local groups should aim to involve and engage the diversity of the local
population'.
We've produced a short guide for groups wishing to start thinking more about Embracing Diversity. You can find it here. The aim of the guide is to start you thinking and talking within your group - we know that
every group is different and there is no one set of guidance that will work for everyone. We also know that you have limited time and resources, and you need to fit in any work to make your group more welcoming alongside other important campaigns and projects.
If you would like help with any of the discussion points in the guide, or you would like to discuss our diversity work in more detail, please get in touch with our Activism Development
Team.
Do let us know how you get on.
In solidarity,
Neil Kingsnorth, Head of Activism
