Cleaning is the process of removing unwanted substances, such as dirt, infectious agents, and other impurities, from an object or environment. Cleaning is often performed for aesthetic, hygienic, functional, safety, or environmental protection purposes. Cleaning occurs in many different contexts, and uses many different methods. Several occupations are devoted to cleaning.
The ACI Cleaning Chemistry Catalog is an online database designed to serve as a resource for accessing and understanding information related to the human and environmental safety of ingredients used in household cleaning products.

The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) is pleased to provide this website for use by institutions. Its purpose is to offer facility managers, school administrators, educators, and other governmental agencies an abundance of information and tools to promote the adoption of effective green cleaning practices, leading to healthier indoor environments.
The Dry-cleaning Solvent Cleanup Act of 1997 (DSCA) and its amendments established a fund to assess and cleanup dry-cleaning solvent contamination at dry-cleaning and wholesale distribution facilities and authorized the program to develop and enforce rules to prevent dry-cleaning solvent releases at operating facilities. The DSCA program is wholly funded by receipts from taxes on dry-cleaning sales and dry-cleaning solvents.
The DSCA Program's web page has popular features like a link to the DWM Site Locator Tool, an online records search, Remediation Unit for cleanup sites, site/facility lists, Phase I/II research and the Compliance Unit for active drycleaners. Other topics , including frequently asked questions, fact sheets, public notices and a DSCA Program staff list can also provide information to common questions.
DWM Site Locator Tool: The site locator tool can be used to identify sites that are in the DSCA Cleanup program, active facilties that are inspected by the DSCA Compliance Unit or historical locations where dry-cleaners were located in the past. In the search bar on the site locator tool, you can enter an address or DSCA identification number if you know it. Refer to the legend to see what the different markers indicate for the DSCA Program. The markers of most interest to those searching for DSCA sites and their meaning are:
Online Documents: Reports and other documents for sites in the DSCA Program are available through an online document system. Quick Start for looking up DSCA sites: Go to Laserfiche site and enter the DSCA site ID number with no spaces or dashes (for example DC410007) in the search bar or the field marked 'ID'. If you do not know the DSCA site ID number, check the list of DSCA sites. For more detailed Laserfiche instructions: Laserfiche PDF.
Site and Facility Lists: Lists of sites entered into the DSCA remediation program, sites potentially contaminated with dry-cleaning solvents, active and inactive drycleaner facilities, compliance site visits, status of DSCA remediation sites.
As governments handle the health crisis and begin to review restrictions in advance of reopening their communities for travel, at Airbnb we are working hard to support our community and prepare for the future of travel, focused on health and prevention. Today we are announcing our Enhanced Cleaning Initiative, which includes the first overarching standardized protocol for cleaning and sanitization in the home sharing industry. Our work is informed by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published standards; leading experts such as Dr. Vivek Murthy, former Surgeon General of the United States; and companies in the hospitality and medical hygiene sector, such as Ecolab, a global leader in cleaning and hygiene technologies and services.
The host Cleaning Protocol will include specific information on COVID-19 prevention, such as the use of personal protective equipment, like masks and gloves for hosts or their cleaners, as well as disinfectants that are approved by regulatory authorities. A CDC recommended 24 hour wait period before entering is also required, as a precaution to address the possibility of particles that may remain airborne for a few hours. The protocol will be available to all hosts and we encourage them to commit and adopt these enhanced cleaning practices. Listings enrolled in the Cleaning Protocol will be available for stays immediately after the enhanced cleaning is performed.
Although risk in travel can never be fully eliminated, and the science is still evolving, this initiative is designed to support and protect our stakeholders. Guests will be able to search for and easily identify Airbnb listings that meet their needs and expectations and are part of the program. Hosts will have access to expert-backed cleaning educational materials and will be supported to show that they take cleanliness and prevention seriously. Governments, health authorities and communities will be able to refer to this inventory, allowing for a controlled approach to reopen travel and reignite tourism economics. And we will continue to collaborate with local governments, medical experts and other authorities to help ensure appropriate precautions are taken, support COVID-19 response efforts, and carry out any other applicable requirements.
We have seen indications that hosts are committed to hosting and we think people will be eager to travel in the future. In a recent company survey, 92 percent of hosts around the world responded that they plan to host as often as before, or more often, once the pandemic is over.** As of late March 2020, Airbnb booking data reflected that the number of reservations beginning at least six months out was greater in comparison to the same time last year.

We are Kate and Mike, the proudly uncool and perpetually curious engineers who founded, own, and operate Meliora Cleaning Products. Not only do we want to give you amazing people- and planet-friendly home cleaning and laundry products, we love talking about why we made them the way we did. Take a look around and ask questions.
This soap cuts through the worst of grease. I use it to clean more than dishes. I use it to clean grime build up in the tub and shower in addition to the cabinet fronts and other grease smothered surfaces. The best!
I bought this product after being unsatisfied by the detergent sheets I was previously using. The powder cleans spectacularly well and makes the whole load of laundry smell so wonderful while not being overpowering at all. All the laundry feels clean and is so soft even if it was line dried, which is amazing as other laundry powder seems to leave a residue that causes fabric to be stiff. I absolutely cannot wait to place my next order!
This is the absolute best cleaner. No fake smells and it cleans amazing. And I just think it is incredible to be able to order the inexpensive refill tablets and to just use hot water to dissolve them and continue using the same glass bottle. I wish I found this sooner.
These foaming tablets work very well. The soap comes out with a lovely foam. I am very happy with this no plastic option! Meliora has the right goals--no waste and no dangerous chemicals. Thank you Meliora! I plan to try the lavender scented foaming soap tablets soon.
I put this soap stick to the test on a large stain that had sat for hours. It removed all signs of the stain after application and a run through the washing machine! I could hardly believe it. This is an amazing product.
I have just about used up my first bar and have already re-ordered more! The lemongrass sent is so fresh. It's not overpowering either. Also, the lemongrass scent lasts to the very end. It doesn't wane at all. I appreciate how this bar lasts. I keep it on a soap saver so it doesn't sit in water. The bar doesn't get soft or mushy and keeps it shape until the end.
Housekeepers are responsible for routine cleaning of public areas, such as hallways, stairwells, common bathrooms, and lounges. The housekeeping staff replenishes consumable items, such as toilet tissue and light bulbs, in these areas as needed. This includes bathrooms and common areas in first-year suite-style housing areas.
In housing areas where cleaning services are provided, limited cleaning equipment (mop, vacuum cleaner, bucket, broom) is available for check-out through Resident Staff, who will keep your ID until the equipment is returned.
No housekeeping services are provided to apartments or suites in upperclass housing or graduate housing. If you live in one of these areas, you are expected to keep your room and suite/apartment clean, and it's a good idea to have cleaning equipment above and beyond the cleaning kit items mentioned above.
The following cleaning instructions are designed for students who have bathrooms or common areas that are not cleaned by housekeeping staff. In those areas, it is the responsibility for students to work together to design a cleaning schedule.
These instructions are important for the health and well-being of each resident, and also to make sure that facilities are maintained and in working order. We recommend that you clean your spaces on a regular basis. If you have questions or concerns, please talk with your RA or Senior Resident (in undergraduate housing) or Community Assistant (in graduate housing).
