This Hotpot AI service analyzes black and white pictures and turns them into realistic color photos. To do this, we built off the wonderful DeOldify project and applied proprietary advancements based on the latest techniques in deep learning, a subfield of machine learning.
The outcome is a sophisticated prediction about the colors of the people and objects in a picture, but like any prediction, it could be wrong or biased. For instance, our AI might colorize a shirt blue when it was actually red.
For this service, pictures are not saved without user permission. For storage costs and user privacy, we only retain images for as long as necessary to run our machine learning models, and do not store photos beyond this.

Magic! Just kidding - deep learning. Deep learning uses a neural network and a training set to learn from black and white photos and their colored counterpart. Once the model has been fed many photos it learns how to color photos. Please note larger files may be optimized and resized for processing.

I recently purchase photoshop elements 2020 but am very disappointed with the program . I bought the program because I wanted to make my B&W pictures into colored ones. The program falls short in changing the entire picture into colored. It leaves parts of the picture b&w and with no way to improve it. I found " My Heritage " web site offering this feature with there ancestery search ( free for 2 weeks ) that puts photoshop program look second rate .
I had Photoshop Elements and upgraded to the newest version in March 2021. I had saw a colorize tutorial on You Tube and it looked so easy. First problem - that was Photoshop 2021 and not PS Elements. My toolbar looked nothing like that on the tutorial. Next problem was that PS 2021 is a monthly subscription only.
This past weekend I explored Elements and found the Colorize selection. I selected one of the 4 tinted offerings and then proceded to colorize different aspects of the 100 year old scanned photo. I am pleased with the result.
My question is this is a work in progress and I saved the file - when I open the file, how do I navigate back to the colorize pallet directly withour going through Enhance>Colorize Photo which will re-tint the photo I am working on?
I'm trying to colorize black and white photos in Photoshop Elements (just downloaded the trial). Adobe's tutorial says to go to Enhance> Colorize Photo, but there is no "Colorize Photo" option there. Anyone know why? This is the only reason I downloaded this program.
if you want to modify an image in css, it isn't possible to do that. but you can play with the opacity property. yeah that only set the image opacity, but it will be a nice effect. here is an example :
In the very basic sense, you could attempt to mimic a sepia style by overlaying a div on top of an image with a sepia like color and an opacity rgba(94, 38, 18, 0.2) - but this method is rather crude. You could even overlay using a transparent image, which might be better than this option (but still pretty rubbish).
There is no cross-browser standardized syntax for this that I know of. You can, however, use HTML5 Canvas and do this effect yourself. Using SVG may also work, but I'm not sure about how well all browsers, in particular internet exploder, support SVG.
What I needed: An image that was fairly colorized by some color and when I hover it, it would be normal again. So what did I do, I set the background color to the color I wanted the image to be and then I reduced its opacity. So I got the colorized image. And when I hover it, I set background to be transparent again and image in its full opacity. So it's kinda possible to color an image usign backgorund-color and opacity with CSS.

I thought I'd write a quick post on one of my favorite image processing tricks. It may be a stretch to call it a "trick" since it's actually a widely used technique with planetary data sets, but the results can seem magical.
A while ago saw some neat photos of Saturn's northern hexagon on the Cassini raw images website. (The whorl at the center is the one in this amazing series of photos.) They even included frames taken through the red, green, and blue filters necessary to make an approximately true color image. But when I went to download them, I realized that the images had been returned to Earth at a quarter of their full resolution, so were only 256 pixels square.
