Sorry it's taken so long. Please see https://sites.google.com/site/steemi2012/home/guidance/non-standard-functions for a couple of solutions: one which involves adding a file to your Simile installation, and another which uses the Simile sketch-graph mechanism. We can discuss both tomorrow.
