I've heard alot recently with people being... unsatisfied with event
themes.... well I do want to stress that we try and provide a variety
of themes and we have done away with competitions so you are not under
obligation to come dressed in theme...

weeks' category on Storytubes. We'd finally come to grips with the
fact that the BEST video wasn't going to win, it was the one with the
best effort on the part of the parents to network and get the vote
out. The sponsoring library even emailed to tell us how to do it: put
the link on chicken and 4-H forums, send it to all your contacts, etc.
Sheesh..... so although I wish it were judged otherwise, on the merit
of the kids work, we put in the effort (20+ hours, actually, which is
ridiculous!) and Olivia was running neck-and-neck with one other kid.
Today we found out that the kids big sister ALREADY WON a previous
category, and that their school district is literally HERDING THE KIDS
into the computer labs every day, each and every one of them, so they
can all vote.

voted for them - 0% looks awfully suspicious to me

4:15, until 5:45, precisely the time that the sponsoring librarian
said the parents told them that "the kids who didn't vote at school
can use the computer lab after school"..... he started this MASSIVE
surge. 25 votes per minute. 1,250 votes in just over an hour. It was
crazy, and it was obviously not legitimate voting. Turns out the
Storytubes unblocks IP blocking during the day so that multiple kids
can vote from the same school. So there's nothing blocking constant
voting from the same machine, again and again...

Nabila Nadir: So Olivia was doing pretty well with her video in this
weeks' category on Storytubes. We'd finally come to grips with the
fact that the BEST video wasn't going to win, it was the one with the
best effort on the part of the parents to network and get the vote
out. The sponsoring library even emailed to tell us how to do it: put
the link on chicken and 4-H forums, send it to all your contacts, etc.
Sheesh..... so although I wish it were judged otherwise, on the merit
of the kids work, we put in the effort (20+ hours, actually, which is
ridiculous!) and Olivia was running neck-and-neck with one other kid.
Today we found out that the kids big sister ALREADY WON a previous
category, and that their school district is literally HERDING THE KIDS
into the computer labs every day, each and every one of them, so they
can all vote.
Riven Homewood: You'd think at least the other kids friends would have
voted for them - 0% looks awfully suspicious to me

4:15, until 5:45, precisely the time that the sponsoring librarian
said the parents told them that "the kids who didn't vote at school
can use the computer lab after school"..... he started this MASSIVE
surge. 25 votes per minute. 1,250 votes in just over an hour. It was
crazy, and it was obviously not legitimate voting. Turns out the
Storytubes unblocks IP blocking during the day so that multiple kids
can vote from the same school. So there's nothing blocking constant
voting from the same machine, again and again...
