Hey everyone, my name is Brian and I have a bomber on Maui.
Today I went for a ride after a full charge and my bike ca cut out after 5 min. It displays "e" v" before shutting down. When I go to charge the bike the charger immediately stops charging and displays the red /green light as if the bike is fully charged. I've tried a bms reset and still no go.
I've got an email to stealth in but want to try and figure it out before Monday.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

put a voltmeter on the battery and then on the charge port of the bike, both should be the same voltage. If the charge port is less the BMS inside the battery has failed. It can be changed if your handy if thats the issue.

Thanks Paul for the reply, I'm gonna try and get my hands on a voltmeter and do what you suggest.
Pretty new to the battery/bms world . Think stealth will cover it under warranty if bms is the case? My bike is bomber number 485, I had less than 1000 miles on it and received bike in June 2014. The bike has the newer ca....and I've had ca issues out of the box with the bike. Particularly the ca not resetting the battery capacity to 100% after each charge. Had to do a manual reset for the ca to reflect correct capacity.

one other thing to try....if the ca is bad its an EZ test....just unplug it and try riding the bike. It will use the BMS for control. If the motor now runs just leave it unplugged till they send a new CA.

If the BMS test comes back as bad Stealth will need to send you a battery if you're not handy with a good soldering iron. Thats what I would ask them for.

Tested the bike without the ca. Battery died as usual. I can rule out the ca... Seems the bms or battery is the problem. Getting a volt meter tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

Paul, I put a voltmeter to both the charge port as well as the battery. Both read 85.9 volts. I'm totally lost as to why the bike keeps cutting out.
Any ideas?

Best contact support as its in the controller, motor or controller connector by the rear wheel. I would also unplug the regen button for a quick test....if its closed the motor can't run.

Agreed. Support should help you.

Brian

p.s. The battery is not dying, it is another component, perhaps within the battery housing such as a BMS. I'd  let support help you though :)

Hey guys thought id give you an update incase this ever happens to anyone else. After testing the dc-1... Voltage of the input and output of the battery. Stealth has determined the battery to have a faulty cell.

I noticed that when I had my bike upside down.. I could turn on the bike and have the throttle wide open and have my back wheel spin forever. No problem. When bike is right side up... Under load and heavier voltage . The battery pack just seizes.

Anyhow it's been couple days and Joe from stealth is looking into sending me a new battery, but he made it seem difficult with sorting out the shipping. Hoping it gets all sorted sooner than later, having a bomber in the garage not running real sucks. Thanks for your help guys! Aloha

Brian L,

Shipping LiPO can be a pain.

Do you or they know whick kind of cells are in your pack? The real long ones, or the short ones?    One mignt have to open up the pack to find out.

I have a couple parts packs here that might be useful, trying to make one pack work, and part out the other.  I have one pack short cells, one long cells. 24 S  123's.

one pack looks like       IIIIIIIIIII   IIIIIIIIII    > BMS

other pack (kinda )
