STC New England Presents:

Documenting the Future

Come for an evening of imagination and fun! We'll briefly review the world of tech writing in 1953, brush lightly on 2013, and spend the bulk of our time considering the possibilities of 2073.

A new voice, science fiction author Michael Burstein will explore future possibilities and STC luminaries Neil Perlin, Marguerite Krupp, and Steve Greffenius will respond.

How will our work be different in 2073? How will it be the same? (Will it be any easier to get SMEs to review our drafts?) Will the cutting-edge technologies of today have morphed into recognizable future variations, or will they have been surpassed completely?

About Michael Burstein

No stranger to technical communication, Michael knows our professional world well, since he is married to a tech writer and is a science textbook writer himself. Michael holds degrees in Physics (BS Harvard 1991 and MS Boston University '93) but he doesn't spend all his time trapped within Earth's gravity-well. He was the John W. Campbell Best New Writer at the 1997 World Science Fiction Convention, and he has published many stories in "Analog" and elsewhere.
