Parish Volunteer Needs: May 2012
Participate in AFAC’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 12
• Lend your support to Arlington Food Assistance Center’s second
largest food drive of the year by leaving a bag of non-perishable food
items by your mailbox on Saturday, May 12. Your letter carrier will
collect it for AFAC. Last year, AFAC was able to collect 14,000
pounds of food in the drive, and it will hopefully be even more
successful with your support.

Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) Needs Volunteers
• AFAC needs volunteers to re-pack chicken each month. While chicken
packing definitely isn't glamorous, it makes a big difference for
Arlington families who rely on AFAC to supplement their groceries!
Instead of a one pound pack of hotdogs, a person eligible for
supplemental groceries from AFAC can choose fresh chicken. AFAC buys
chicken in bulk, and the chicken packing team re-packs it into
servings. Wear your old clothes and AFAC will provide disposable
aprons and gloves.
• Time: Wednesday, May 23 and June 13 from 6:30 PM to approximately
8:00 PM

RCIA Sponsors
• We are looking for parishioners who are interested in sponsoring
those seeking initiation in the Catholic Church through the RCIA
process at St. Charles. A sponsor's role is to journey with those in
formation in the RCIA process, be a supportive friend, but not
necessarily an expert on "things Catholic." Opportunities to sponsor
will occur throughout the year since we have a year round RCIA process
at St. Charles. We particularly have a need for female sponsors at
the moment. We don't have a current need for male sponsors, but
please let us know if you are interested since sponsoring needs can
occur unexpectedly!
• Time: Tuesday night RCIA sessions and special events; time
commitment varies.
