Get involved this Lent!

The St. Charles theme this year is Missions and the Social Justice
committee has many ways for you to get involved:

Lenten Soup Suppers
Join us Tuesday evenings at St. Charles for our Soup Supper series. A
prayer service begins in the chapel at 6:30pm, followed by a communal
soup supper in Benedict Hall and a speaker at 7:15pm. Everyone is
welcome! Please bring soup to share or a donation. All proceeds
benefit the featured missions and outreach programs. Questions? Call
Marisa Vertrees, 703-527-5500, extension 126,
mver...@stcharleschurch.org.

March 15th. Summer Work Camps. Paul Bevins, Office of Youth Ministry
for the Diocese of Arlington will be joining us to talk about the
annual youth summer work camps where teens reach-out to residents
throughout Virginia to help them make much-needed improvements and
repairs to their homes while spreading Christ’s love through
service.

March 22nd. Dominican Republic Mission. Fr. Gerry Creedon will be
making a special guest appearance to talk about the St. Charles
missions in the Dominican Republic, which hold a special place in
his heart.

March 29th. Africa Outreach. Gail Goodridge will speak to us about the
activities of the St. Charles Africa Outreach mission, which has
worked to set up an AIDS outreach program in Africa, sponsored
children’s educational fees, and engaged in micro-credit lending to
women.

April 5th. Haiti Ministry. Members of the St. Charles Haiti Ministry
Lynette LeMatt and Meg Gilroy, who spent many years living and working
in Haiti, will discuss the history of the Haitian people, the
challenges they face, and what St. Charles is doing to try and help.

April 12th. Commissioned by Christ. Jessica Berrada, one of the CBC
founders will speak about the short-term mission trips throughout the
world offered to families, couples and singles. A great opportunity
to get involved in mission work!

Give the Gift of Clear Sight!

Weekend of March 12-13
Drop off your old eyeglasses in one of the designated boxes at the
church entrances, March 12-13. The old eyeglasses will be recycled
for needy people throughout the world by the Lions Club.

Saturday, March 19, 9am-12pm
Volunteer to prepare eyeglasses for shipment to needy people around
the world. We will be cleaning, classifying, and sorting donated
eyeglasses at the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center of Northern Virginia
at 601 S. Carlin Springs Rd., Arlington.

All ages from junior high and up are welcome to volunteer!

Please email Christine at chri...@gmail.com to sign-up and indicate
