WorkCamp 2013 Handypeople
· These are known as "contractors" at WorkCamp, the "handymen" and "handywomen" that focus on leading the work on the sites. You DO NOT HAVE TO BE A PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTOR to be an amazing WorkCamp Contractor...just have a general knowledge of the "Home Depot" and a desire to teach teens your skills.
· Time: Particular days of need include the work site days, Monday (June 24) through Thursday (June 27), a minimum of two. Contractors are the only WorkCamp volunteers given the option to commute, though we will be serving in Shenandoah County so they also have a place to stay arranged for you at the high school and a hotel block discount option. You also have the option of joining the teens & Adult Crew Leaders for the entire week, Saturday evening (June 22) through Friday afternoon (June 28).

Gleaning with AFAC
· Looking to get back to nature this summer & fall? Come gleaning with the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC)! We anticipate that we will start gleaning in earnest the start of July thru the end of October. Gleaning takes place at farms that are located between 45 minutes to an hour and a half away from Arlington. It's great for families, groups and individuals. We typically start at 9:00 (maybe earlier in the heat of summer) on a Saturday morning and stay for at least two hours. We pick produce from farms that graciously allow us and the produce is then returned to the clients of AFAC as a way of providing healthy, fresh fruits and vegetables to families who cannot afford them.
· Time: Saturday mornings starting at 9 AM; Weekday gleaning dates can be arranged for large groups

Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) Needs Volunteers
· AFAC needs volunteers to re-pack chicken each month. While chicken packing definitely isn't glamorous, it makes a big difference for Arlington families who rely on AFAC to supplement their groceries! Instead of a one pound pack of hotdogs, a person eligible for supplemental groceries from AFAC can choose fresh chicken. AFAC buys chicken in bulk, and the chicken packing team re-packs it into servings. Wear your old clothes and AFAC will provide disposable aprons and gloves. AFAC is located at 2708 S. Nelson St., just off of Four Mile Run near I-395 and Shirlington.
