-5:30pm: STCAH meeting-7pm+ Brief workshop at Occupy GA at Harbourside to prep for Sat Dec 17th event
--Sat Dec 17 Lanterns 'Rally' (or whatever we end up calling it)
3:30pm, meet at Harbourside and walk to City Hall
*Lanterns:
-glass jars with wire around the neck, paper around it OR mason jars sitting in cardboard boxes with windows cut out.
-with housing fact on each lantern:
rough ideas:
-no new rental units built in St. John's in the last 20 years (# condos built?)
-vs. Halifax (700+ units this past year)
-vacancy rate 1.1%
-what is “affordable”? Min. wage can afford? Living wage...
-rent to own – why are the poor paying the mortgage of the rich?
-no rent controls in NL
-how can someone own many homes, while others own none
-helping rich pay their mortgage
-human rights declaration of NL
-27,000 house holds in NL are in “core housing need”
-10% of Canadians have affordable housing issues
-300,000 suffer from being homeless across Canada
-people served in shelters in St. John's:

*2009: 1408
*2010: 1505
-make lanterns next Tuesday

-jars (everyone bring what you've got)
-cardboard & paper
-t-lights
-Dec 17th partnership letter to take to other groups that may want to work with us
ASAP-Dec 17th press release written after, maybe with partners to list
-email out by Mon Dec 12th
-2 days later, follow-up call to media
-99% Film Fest: Wed Dec 14 – pick film(s) and presentation title by next film
e.g. maybe Power Point presentation including short films:
Ryan Oscar winning short animated film
clips from Salvation about the work of salvation army
St. John's receives help for affordable housing from CMHC
A film about housing/homeless in NL needs to be made:
-contact NIFCO and other film groups to document housing/homelessness in St. John's
-start compiling our own footage and do
