Biography

I’m honored to be a candidate for the position of STC Director on the 2017 STC ballot.

I am employed as Business Head – Technical Communication at Persistent Systems. I have been involved in technical communication for 21 years. I am a senior member of STC. I have served STC, and STC India for 16+ years in assorted positions, including: Immediate Past President, Election Officer, President, Secretary, and so on.

Currently, I’m a STC Community Affairs Committee member and work closely with the Academic, Lone Writer, and Technical Editing SIGs. I am also serving as an Editorial Advisory Board member for Technical Communication since 2015. I was a jury member for the 2015 Frank R. Smith Award.

In 2015, I was named Associate Fellow and awarded the Distinguished Chapter Service Award.

Your vote matters.

It is about m

e. It is about you. It is about all of us.

Our career. Our dreams. Our lives.

The moment has come. Let us come together. Let us work together.

Your vote will decide the future of STC.  We're committed to help STC succeed.

I encourage each and every member of STC to vote.

I'm honored to be a candidate for the position of STC Director on the 2017 STC ballot.

I will be grateful for your vote. Thank you.
How will your vote help me and STC India
?

1. If I win, India wins, Indian TW communit

y
 wins
. I am not just running for office, I am running for the TW community.

2. If I win, it will be the first time that Indian TW community gets a representation on the STC US Board - in STC's history of 65 years and in 18 years of STC India Chapter.

This will be a big boost for the STC India chapter considering that it has come a long way from the initial days of concerns about the quality of writing from India and so on.
3. My primary goal is to serve STC. I would like the efforts of STC India acknowledged at the international level, since I have been associated with the chapter since its inception.

4. One of goals would be to focus on communities as I have mentioned in my candidate statement. Lot of communities of STC across the globe are facing some challenges - one of them being membership.

I am proposing that STC should have a compelling and creative strategy to enhance member experience and exceed their expectations. STC needs to attract and retain members and the communities - only then will STC have renewed growth.

If I am elected members, I will work closely with members and the Board to understand the current challenges, analyze the issues and collaborate with members/communities to create a healthy sustainable solution together.

5. I am Community Affairs Committee member and working with SIGs. I am already working with communities and this experience will enable me to add value to our chapter too.

6. All these years, we have always discussed that we are not getting adequate support from STC . But now, since I am closely working with STC US/Board members, I can work in this direction. Also, if I win and am part of the STC Board - I can get adequate support from the Board members

Why I Want to Serve as Director

I'm proud of my STC membership, and privileged to be a part of this organization. STC has provided opportunities to me that has helped my professional growth. I am sure you as members of the Society for Technical Communication are also proud of your STC Membership, and your careers in technical communication. The Society must continually earn this pride, and provide value to its members, and promote the profession.

That is why I'm running for Director position so that I can serve the broader STC community and give back to STC - Serve The Community.

STC is evolving and is on a momentous and exciting journey. STC is a global association and has made inroads in Europe, India and China. STC should continue to increase its presence globally. The objective is to encourage STC activity globally in a proactive manner. This will bring into STC renewed growth, energy and creativity. As Director, I am eager to help in this effort.

One of STC's greatest strengths is its diverse communities. Communities unite members of a geographic region and provide opportunities for education, networking, and employment most relevant to them. Today, some of our communities are facing challenges, including: declining membership, declining leadership, or both. As Director, I will work to find a healthy, sustainable solution for our communities.

Our profession has grown. But, STC has only a quarter or lesser of this number as members. We need a growth strategy and our value proposition has to be presented in a compelling way. STC has the infrastructure and the expertise to achieve this goal. As Director, I will contribute to this effort.

STC needs to broaden its reach beyond an association for technical communicators. STC has to reach out to other communication-related professional societies to make them aware of what STC has to offer. As Director, I will work with your support to make this happen.

Finally, this election is not only about me or any candidate. It is about all of us. It is about you. It is about your career, your dreams, your struggles and your life. The moment has come when we can come together and solve the problems.

If you elect me Director, I will put in my best efforts to serve STC, its communities, and members.

I will be grateful for your vote. Thank you for your support.
