The Oracle Communications Monetization & Orchestration Information Development group has an opening for a Sr. Technical Writer in Hyderabad, India. You will write/revise documentation and online help content for Oracle Communications products. Excellent writing and research skills, the ability to grapple with and master difficult source material, and the flexibility to manage changing deadlines and priorities are essential. You must be able to write for a wide variety of audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge (such as system/network administrators, deployment architects, and end users). You must have the proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment to resolve problems, and create high-quality work.
As a member of the technical writing division, you will:
- Research and understand the marketing needs for a product and perform documentation design based on your understanding of these and the needs of our customers.
- Organize and prepare information for publication and develop publication concepts for the best communication of subject matter.
- Participate in product design and status meetings.
- Verify documentation through hands-on testing.
- Take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures.
- Proven ability to learn new products and technologies and to grasp technical material.
Background
- Possess college degree in a related field such as English, Technical Communications, Engineering, or Computer Science.
- 4-12 years of previous technical writing experience.
- Excellent research, analysis, and writing skills.
- Write clearly and concisely using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Proven ability to write conceptual, task-oriented, and reference documentation with equal facility.
- Experience interpreting technical specifications, configuration files, code, and other technical documents as source material.
Technical and tools knowledge
- Proven ability to learn new products and technologies and to grasp technical material.
- Exposure to standard documentation tools, including Adobe FrameMaker (experience with Structured FrameMaker a plus), Visio, and Oxygen, as well as documentation preparation standards and delivery mechanisms (e.g., online Help, Web help, PDFs, etc.).
- Exposure to software development tools, including source control tools, and processes, including design, development, and quality assurance a plus.
- Knowledge about the communications industry a plus.
Soft skills
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Possess good planning and organization skills.
- Independence and good judgment, positive attitude, and an innovative spirit.
- Ability to work with cross-functional global teams, including developers, peers, architects, and editors in remote locations.
- Ability to work on multiple deliverables simultaneously and under time constraints.
