Shalom to all,

We are looking for some information from anyone who has experience authoring in Word 2007 (DOCX and XML) on a SharePoint server. We imagine that the SP server could be used for version control and collaborative reviewing and authoring of DOCX files, while the XML files could be sent for inexpensive translations.

We have a large database of XML files stored in a CMS that affords us limited conditionality and the obvious single sourcing capabilities. We don't want to dump the existing data, but are interested in using it in a Word environment (that better meets the needs of our SMEs). True, our CMS should offer collaboration through HTML and even publish to RTF. However, our main publishing format is currently PDF. We enable markup editing of our PDFs in Acrobat Reader, but some SMEs (who are truly geniuses) just can't deal with non-WYSIWYG editing.

Someone's probably thinking of simply publishing to RTF, opening the RTF in W07, and then saving as DOCX. If we do so, will we loose our single sourcing capabilities at that point?

Can anyone offer us a look into our future and tell us how we will be able to use our existing DITA XML files in single DOCX files (per document) and keep single sourcing capabilities in W07?

Perhaps someone can offer us something about this situation from an overseas TC forum.

Thanks,
