Subject: [Stceusig-l] Accessibility in Technical Documentation and the Workplace

The STC UK and Ireland Chapter is promoting a two-day event on 13th-14th June in Cambridge, England, on Accessibility in Technical Documentation and the Workplace

-------- Original Message --------

The Society for Technical Communication UK and Ireland chapter is pleased to announce this major event. Have you ever encountered these questions?

How do we make our communications usable by people with hearing and sight difficulties?

How do we work with colleagues and customers who have hearing and sight difficulties?

Join this event to find out how.

We have full programme of speakers who will enhance your knowledge of disability matters which might affect customers and colleagues who have hearing and sight problems.

·        Speakers to tell you what it's like to be hard of hearing and the problems you'd encounter.

·        How a local organisation for the deaf uses its web site.

·        Try your hand at signing.

·        Design.

o       Two tutorials on how to design for web and print.

o       Web site design and an appraisal of our web site.

·        The Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher archive at Churchill College.

There are also to great social events, punting on the Cam and a Gala dinner.

Full details on the UK and Ireland chapter web site http://www.stcuk.org/ Please book through Event Brite at http://accessibilitytechcomms.eventbrite.com/
