Failed to Open DOCX file in Word 2007, but Succeed on Word 2010

Shalom to all,

 

A Word document was checked into our Project Lifetime Management (PLM) system for version control, etc. It was saved and checked in as a DOCX file. When another person opened it, running Office 2010 on Windows 7, it opened without complications. When two others tried to open it, running Office 2007 on Windows 

I've searched Google for such a problem but didn't find anything about it. I found one other incompatibility issue in which spaces went missing, but never a problem opening a DOCX file.

 

Does anyone know of such occurrences and what might be their cause?
