An STC Web Seminar
Creating and Managing Requirements for a New
Content Strategy
Presented by John Hawkins
Wednesday, 19 May
1:00–2:00 PM EDT
(GMT-4)
Sooner or later, most technical communicators will
need to be part of planning or implementing a new content strategy: to enhance
your organization’s global presence, strengthen customer relationships, increase
productivity, or improve user experience. To achieve strategic goals, your
organization may move to structured authoring, implement a content management
system, enable dynamic publishing and interactive websites, or incorporate
user-contributed content (to name just a few possibilities).
All too often, the search begins with a focus on
tools and workflow; but aligning content strategy with organizational goals and
priorities—and ensuring that it works for the benefit of those who consume your
content—is essential to a successful solution.
This presentation explains how to define the
criteria for a new content strategy, form a team, create requirements, and
manage the selection and implementation of a solution that enhances the value of
content throughout your organization and benefits those who use your
content.
John Hawkins is a senior technical writer and
knowledge management consultant for SDI Global Solutions (a division of Systems
Documentation, Inc.). John has worked extensively in markup languages, component
content management, and single sourcing, helping many clients define and
implement content authoring, management, and publishing solutions. John believes
that effective solutions begin with good requirements.
