Remember to use the Post Event Form if you’re closing (or if there’s only one shift)
If you make modifications to the gear, please let us know so the people that use it next can be aware and change as necessary. (Choosing to not bring certain items, etc.)
Volunteer Event Ideas
Note: if you have ideas of events we should be at, let Karl or Don or Michelle or Quack know.
Steph would love to find a drum and bass event to table at.

Training - IMPORTANT!
Please finish your DS Training, or start the process by going to DanceSafe.org/volunteer
Training required to volunteer!
Please be sure to fill out all forms, and you'll be sent an email from SignRequest to do your eSignature on your DanceSafe Volunteer Agreement
Training seems to be updated - recommend going over again! (repeated on 1/16)
Chapter Leads
Chapter Leadership Application
We still need one to two more officers! Please let us know if you're interested in applying. There is a link we can provide for the DS Nat’l application.
Roles Needed: Chapter Leads, Shift Leads
Tasks covered (not comprehensive):
- Meeting Planning/Note Taking
- Logistics (storing gear, making sure it's ready for a booth, accessing our storage facility)
- Finances
- Handle Square Reader
- Social Media
- DS Nat'l Meetings
- Promoter Contact
Shift Leads - new role, from DS. Folks that we could leave at the booth to leave it in 'charge.' Preferably have a vehicle to help transport the gear.
ADDITIONAL INFO: Preferably Karl will step down into an advisory position once one more chapter lead is instated.
T-Shirt Policy
While usually we’d like folks to wear both the badge and DS T-Shirt on shift, like before, exceptions can be made if you’re in costume for the event being worked, at the discretion of the chapter lead/shift lead.
Heather - M/L
Joules - ?
Pete - M
Razz - largest, 2xl?
Business
Materials
Note: Check fire extinguishers if they’re expired! The one we brought to Critical was not expired. Still need to check the rest.
Need:
- MDMA, LSD cards
- refill fent strips
- non-latex condoms
Pronoun pins (Pip) - Michelle will coordinate w/ Pip.
Razz has a professional printer and laminator and offered it as needed.
Need to fill up and clean off bins.
Merch
Discuss if we want more merch (water bottles, pens, crisp tubes) and figure out how they fit onto the table. Looking into stacking bins so we have more space. Will it require another bin?
(also we already have too many things on the table, so we need an organizational solution)
Organization
Categories of items
Consumables (condoms, candy, hygiene products, pronoun pins)
Drug Checking
Drug Info
Safer Use Supplies (boofing kits, etc)
Merch
Karl - replace lighting cubes with something USB c and that is smaller/flatter? Also tape rope light pieces together
Haven looking into an arch over the table as an option.
Inventory for Chapter Finance to be done by Quack on ¼ or ⅕ in Airtable.
Infrastructure
This renewed in the past week for $46.18
Active Volunteer List
For the purpose of texting active volunteers when someone drops out of an event and in general if we need extra folks for a given event. Considering adding another channel to Discord for this.
Quack working on this, need phone numbers for folks to make a Signal group chat. Probably could start using numbers we have to start!
Michelle to ask the regular volunteers that we don’t have phone numbers for to give us their numbers.
FTIR Testing w/ PubHealth
Thru Georgia! Best way is thru her work phone# and you can ask Karl for her number if interested. Texting thru Signal works too. Also calling is okay. E-spectronomy out on Thurs/Fri. At the Robert Clewis Center, Needle Exchange on 4th & Blanchard in Belltown. Downtown public health building - do FTIR, fent strip testing, but also access to GCMS testing thru U of North Carolina. Wed/Thurs/Fri, 9-5p.
Can test everything except weed and shrooms. Liquid is iffy, and LSD needs to be sent to the lab.
Can’t advertise too much, folks get some harassment sometimes for using services. :(
Also can go to PHRA (Fri/Sun afternoons)! Downtown Needle Exchange has drop boxes.
Covid Tests
Still have a bunch in storage. Pip got a ton of COVID tests that aren’t far from expiring.
Razz has a source to get non-expired tests. Minimum order is 300.
Other
Razz has access to print I heart hardcore shirts. They will print some and are interested in selling them to people for a donation to DS. Still working on getting it all set up, but happy to do. Could also do a new screenprint specific to harm reduction.
Also there are other items available to get/sell from DS National. Including milligram scales
Razz also offered to provide some S3/DS-branded Kandi to have available to give out at tables. Shaq and Haven would love to help.
Decolonizing Harm Reduction Workshop
Quack requesting funds for cost on this $33 (no opposition)
