Dear volunteers:
You may have heard by now that DanceSafe National has let go all of their staff and contractors, and will be continuing to operate with a Board of Directors and chapters only. As leads, we apologize for the delay in reaching out about this. We finally had a chance to sit down and talk about the situation tonight, and wanted to share our thoughts with you.
The Board sent the attached letter a few days ago, but hasn’t communicated with us beyond that, yet. We look forward to hearing from them so that we can begin the work of transitioning from working with National staff to working with the Board. We’re also exploring the possibility of going back to being the fully autonomous Stay Safe Seattle. No firm decisions will be made either way until later in the year. For now, we’ll be continuing to operate as DanceSafe Seattle, taking a ‘wait and see’ approach to determine whether the Board will be able to work effectively with us. In the meanwhile, we are committed to continuing to provide a harm reduction presence at our local and regional events like SOAK, Parke Diem, Critical, and more.
Please reach out to any of us if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions. We appreciate your volunteerism and look forward to continuing this important work together.
Warmly,
Karl, Michelle, Don, Quack, and Haven
