If you make modifications to the gear, please let us know so the people that use it next can be aware and change as necessary. (Choosing to not bring certain items, etc.)

Training - IMPORTANT!

Please finish your DS Training, or start the process by going to DanceSafe.org/volunteer
Training required to volunteer!

Please be sure to fill out all forms, and you'll be sent an email from SignRequest to do your eSignature on your DanceSafe Volunteer Agreement

Training seems to be updated - recommend going over again! (repeated on 1/16)

Chapter Leads

Chapter Leadership Application

We still need one to two more officers! Please let us know if you're interested in applying. There is a link we can provide for the DS Nat’l application.

  • Roles Needed: Chapter Leads, Shift Leads

Tasks covered (not comprehensive):

- Meeting Planning/Note Taking

- Logistics (storing gear, making sure it's ready for a booth, accessing our storage facility)

- Finances

- Handle Square Reader

- Social Media

- DS Nat'l Meetings

- Promoter Contact

Shift Leads - new role, from DS. Folks that we could leave at the booth to leave it in 'charge.' Preferably have a vehicle to help transport the gear.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Preferably Karl will step down into an advisory position once one more chapter lead is instated.

T-Shirt Policy

While usually we’d like folks to wear both the badge and DS T-Shirt on shift, like before, exceptions can be made if you’re in costume for the event being worked, at the discretion of the chapter lead/shift lead.

Business

Materials

Karl is going to ask National for more xylazine strips.  We’re probably going to give some out at the Plymouth event so we might run low.  Ideally would like to get Plymouth Housing signed up as a reseller with DS national.

Note: Found one fire extinguisher that hasn’t expired and set it w/ Haven & Quack, need to check expiration dates of rest!

Also need more pronoun pins! Pip has the button maker, Karl sent it the design files we had last meeting.  Pip sent Michelle the files that need to be printed in color.  Michelle bringing the printouts to Critical to give to Pip.

Haven made a one-pager that gives the correct info for Fentanyl.  Haven printing in time for Critical.

Should NOT have xylazine strips on the table.  They are for opioids only so should be available only on request.

Amphetamine strips are not valid - don’t use them.  Need to label them as “do not use”.  Karl will ask for more info on what we should do with the ones we have.

National doesn’t have benzo strips.

Need to fill up and clean off bins.  Would be good to have pads in addition to tampons, need new “ask us about drug testing” fliers laminated (Michelle will do).

Infrastructure

https://seattledancesafe.gay & https://seattledancesafe.org

  • Leads to: https://linktr.ee/seattledancesafe

  • Recruiting more volunteers!

  • Added email signup to linktree!

  • Membership drive?

  • Publicize Discord?

  • Maybe look for additional URL to buy?

Need separate volunteer bit.ly with:

  • Test kit info link

  • Fent Testing

  • Post Event Documentation Form

  • General Drug Info

  • DS Website

Karl still needs to work on this! Will reach out to folks (Michelle/Don) if help needed.

FTIR Testing w/ PubHealth

Thru Georgia! Best way is thru her work phone# and you can ask Karl for her number if interested. Texting thru Signal works too. Also calling is okay. E-spectronomy out on Thurs/Fri. At the Robert Clewis Center, Needle Exchange on 4th & Blanchard in Belltown. Downtown public health building - do FTIR, fent strip testing, but also access to GCMS testing thru U of North Carolina. Wed/Thurs/Fri, 9-5p.

Can test everything except weed and shrooms. Liquid is iffy, and LSD needs to be sent to the lab.

Can’t advertise too much, folks get some harassment sometimes for using services. :(

Also can go to PHRA (Fri/Sun afternoons)! Downtown Needle Exchange has drop boxes.

Covid Tests

Pip got a ton of COVID tests that aren’t far from expiring.

Next In-Person Meeting Location

Criteria for locations:
- parking
- traffic/distance
- indoors
- quiet

If you need it, talk about carpooling closer to the date, at least a day before.

Next in person meeting would be August 28th at 7 PM.  Preference for Cal Anderson again that day - Michelle will ask to Quack confirm Cal Anderson.
