Okay, looks like we now have some details on the conference attendance. Here's the email from Carissa with the details.

The 9th National Harm Reduction Conference: From Public Health to Social Justice is the only multidisciplinary conference focused on improving the health of drug users. Over a thousand people from around the country will meet to address the many critical issues affecting the drug user community including overdose, HIV, hepatitis, incarceration and stigma. Physicians, medical professionals, policy makers, researchers, HIV/AIDS and hepatitis service agencies, organizations providing services for youth, and the homeless as well as community based and advocacy organizations will be well represented at this much anticipated event.

DanceSafe is able to offer free registration for up to 10 DanceSafe volunteers that would like to attend the conference. Volunteers will be responsible for their own accommodations along with any travel expenses.
DanceSafe will be presenting at the conference on Friday for a breakout session tilted
NightlIfe & Drug Use Trends with the following speakers and topics
Nightlife by Number: Electronic Dance Music & Drug Use in 2012 - Stefanie Jones, Drug Policy Alliance, New York, NY
New Substances on the Scene - Nathan Messer, DanceSafe, Seattle, WA
2012 Festival Attendees Survey Results - Carissa Cornwell, DanceSafe, Madison, WI
DanceSafe as a Harm Reduction Organization - Missi Wooldridge, DanceSafe, Denver, CO

DanceSafe will be setting up a table as an exhibitor during the conference and volunteers will be required to help work the DanceSafe table during the conference. I have created a form for DanceSafe volunteers that would like to attend the conference to enter in info regarding the conference.  Please fill out this form by November 4th to be considered.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

I've talked with all of our members with Stay Safe Seattle, and it looks like we have 8-9 members interested in attending. Matt, Karl, Amber, Arinna, Jensen, Alex, Harrison, Tendy, and myself. Would everyone be able to attend with DS sponsored registration?

I cannot afford to pay for a flight or hotel. Will my costs be covered or should we contact HRC about my presentation? If Ds can't afford for the travels, should we consider Chalaina for my presentation? I'd love to attend, just keep me posted!

DanceSafe will also pay for the registration fee if you can cover your travel and hotel costs.
Please contact Carissa Cornwell car...@dancesafe.org ASAP if you are going to attend so she  can get you registered!

This is two weeks away. Do we have confirmation on who can go? I need to request time off work and start arranging car pools/hotels with folks...

Also, it appears (via the conference web site) that the hotel discounted rate date cut off was Oct 23rd, so we're going to have to pay a higher rate. Just FYI for those paying close attention to their finances.

If you want to go, make sure to fill out the application from Carissa, I assume that's how you'll get confirmation that you can go.

A few issues:

how are we organizing hotel accommodations? we cant complete the application until we know the logistics.  and i'd like to keep my attendance tentative for now, until i have an idea of how much hotel costs are going to be, and also because i have an exam the following monday.  that being said, do we have a schej or itinerary for the conference? if i wont be working 100% of the time then i can use the down time to study.

Just got word back, Alex, Matt, Jenson, and myself are all down as having filled out the applications, and we're all going to be registered by dance safe. So we just need to get down there. Matt are you still looking to drive?

As far as accommodations, there are options to stay with some Portland DS member, or also make use of the DS hotel rooms, as they say they have 3 booked and we may be able to make use of floor space or something there.

I called the Portland Marriott and have a hold on a room for the 16th and 17th for $149/night and that can be split among 4 people for ~$80/per person total for the weekend.

I need to let them know within the next 24 hours to hold the room. What says everyone? :)

So what's the plan for the hotel room? Y'all wanna meet at my place and we can convoy down to Portland?

Last we talked, it was that Matts reserved a room and we'll be splitting the cost for that room. Also Carissa has yet to get back to me on the space for the other 2 of us. Otherwise as far as getting down there it sounds like Karl and Matt are driving down and it'd make sense to convoy down together on, Friday afternoon it sounds like.

What time was everyone wanting to leave?

Then we may need to split groups as I have midterms that morning so I can't leave until after class at 1:30.
