Hi,

Thanks for joining. At this early stage, if you've joined up you
probably know who I am, but here's my background:

I'm a staff writer for Hemmings Classic Car, and in the spring of 2007
I was handed a file of photos of Joe Whitney's 1908 Staver ER. Joe
knew a fair amount about his car's fascinating history and some
details about Staver Carriage, but there were more questions than
answers, and there was no published writing on the company.

I spent more than two years researching Staver, and in the process
came to care a great deal about the company, about the Staver family,
and about the other people for whom this obscure little Chicago
carriagemaker is important. Even after the story was completed, I
continued to hear from folks who were interested, and I continue to
work on the story, solely for my own entertainment.

That's me; if you'd care to introduce yourselves to the other members,
that would be nice.
