Hello, Team status Quo

As discuss in the last class, we need to pick a topic for our group. I thought of the idea to list our names and strengths to help determine the subject matter for our group.

Jeff Fultz ,
 Strength: Law and Policy
My pick for Group Subject matter: 3.  Cyber Law/Regulation: 4.  Cyber Security Capability:

Hi All,
I work for the U.S. Treasury as an auditor so I review policy and procedures at work concerning operational policies and regulations including policies and regulations concerning information technology as it relates to security. I like to suggest that maybe part of our presentation can focus on current policies and procedures in place in the workplace to mitigate cyber risk and/ or information system security risk.

That sound a great idea and may be we can apply it in various agencies either private or government.

My expertise is in Tactical and Army / Military systems and policies i can aid in some of the policies as well since the tactical and enterprise policies are one in the same.

Im still a little confused on the exact goal of the project.  So he presented us with the scenarios, are we supposed to say how we could improve the areas or what other things we would implement ?

I oversee cyber operations for a small defense contractor, so I guess my
expertise ranges from general IT security (defenses, incident response,
penetration testing, etc) to policy and end user awareness training.

I too am a little confused on the project. In re-reading the initial
announcement, I feel like we are supposed to select a few topics to then
build a presentation around, and then use the scenario we have been
assigned to discuss what those topics will look like in 2025.

Thanks,

-Mike

I am Jay Baldwin and I'm proficient in networking and systems development/support/administration/etc. as well as a hobbyist in programming and robotics.

The status quo paper on blackboard wasn't a list of possible topics to choose from but instead a description of the future world broken down into parts. From what I understand we are to choose the topics that will lead to this outcome and we can talk about ways that things could have turned out better/worse between 2013 - 2025.

For example in the text it says, "and legislation favoring civil liberties of criminals thwarts the efforts of law enforcement and Homeland security to actively remove criminals and attackers." so with that in mind we can take that piece and say in our status quo world it is difficult for law enforcement to do its job because of these concerns and here are some ways to solve the problem, privacy concerns, if it should even be changed, etc...

I believe we need to decide on topics related to this description such as: Privacy, Legislative actions, Technology Development, Security, Social aspects, and some others. From this we can generate a plausible story about the future that we can talk about with the class.
