Can anyone help monitor passenger numbers on late morning Sunday trains into Manchester from Todmorden, Littleborough, Smithy Bridge, ROCHDALE, Castleton and Mills Hill, please? This is to help TfGM get a better Sunday service. Enclosed email forwarded from STORM. Please let me know if anyone can help. Unfortunately I’ll be away the next two Sundays when the figures are required (for a report on the 11th October).

Here is a plea from Roy Chapman at TfGM

I do hope we can get some info for Roy.   The poor Sunday service is a scandal and STORM has been pressing for this for a long, long time.    It was made worse when the Oldham line closed and this was flagged up to Northern well beforehand bur our warnings went unheeded.

The crunch trains probably are from 11am onwards in towards Manchester and 1500 to 1800 back again.

I will hope to do one day (Cannot be 23rd) or maybe half a day.

Do we have a volunteer for some of the Sundays?

Counting passengers off trains arriving Victoria is probably best, to include if possible how many do not have tickets and how long they have to queue and if, as sometimes happens, they are waved through without paying.

However this will not enable us to record any trains when passengers at Mills Hill or Moston are unable to board.

Peter Thwaite is keen to do this sort of thing at Victoria as discussed at the last STORM meeting.

If anyone is counting at Victoria, they could usefully count passengers off the Greenfield line trains tho' these may be replaced by buses for first two Sundays.

Can station friends help -- counting passengers getting on/off at their local stations?

Stuart, Are you able to get through to someone at Todmorden to help?

STORM will help with expenses if anyone has to pay to travel.
