Debugging

Can anyone provide pointers to debugging my custom staticmatic ruby
helpers?

Ideally i'd like to be able to use something similar to irb to check
the code as it runs, but at this point even some simple log-to-console
would help...this is whilst "staticmatic preview mysite" is running of
course.
