Over the past five years, participants have been dropping out, or churning, of recreational fishing and boating at an alarming rate. This troublesome trend comes at a huge cost, contributing to decreases in sales and revenue for industry and, ultimately, lower funding to support fisheries conservation and clean waterways.

Recognizing the need for change, RBFF initiated comprehensive, multi-phase research to better understand why anglers and boaters lose interest. The research identified the drivers of attrition among lapsed participants, leveraging behavioral science to dissect attitudes, motivations, barriers, and beliefs. It also identifies recommendations for how to address this challenge.

Join us on Thursday, September 12th at 2 pm ET to learn more about this research from RBFF
and global market research firm Ipsos. The discussion will include:

  • An overview of the four phases of research
  • Why addressing fishing/boating churn is important...to you
  • Common themes as to why people lapse
  • Actionable insights and tactics to retain them

This is a must-attend event for anyone involved in getting more people on the water, including retailers, manufacturers, trade media, government agencies, NGOs, trade associations, community groups, captains, marina owners, charters, guides, and more. Gain important insights into your marketing and communication efforts before another angler or boater quits.

Thank you to our sponsors who made this research possible, including the American Sportfishing Association (ASA), Grady-White Boats, the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas (MRAA), the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), and Yamaha Watercraft.
