2021 – combo = 83,582, annual fishing = 54,009 – COMBINED TOTAL = 137,591
2022 – combo = 83,712, annual fishing = 46,472 – COMBINED TOTAL = 130,184
2022 (Jan – Jun) – combo = 74,626, annual fishing = 30,282 – COMBINED TOTAL = 104,908
2023 (Jan – Jun) – combo = 83,089, annual fishing = 29,331 – COMBINED TOTAL = 112,420

Position: Research Analyst for hunting, fishing, target shooting, recreation, and natural resources consulting.
Responsibilities: The professional in this position will conduct quantitative survey and statistical-based analyses. They would also be someone who can go beyond summarizing the data in front of them; to instead support client’s needs with substantive insights. We also want someone interested in identifying research opportunities, new methodological approaches and processes. As a representative of Southwick Associates, good communication skills are a must. Occasional travel may be required. This professional would join a skilled and experienced team, and a work culture with a mix of independent and collaborative work, as the projects require.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, or business analytics and at least 3-5 years of experience required. Strong analytical skills in the areas of primary and secondary research are required.
• Experience with designing, managing, and executing research projects that include data collection, analysis, and reporting (technical report, infographic, or presentations).
• Proficient with statistical software (such as R or SPSS) and MS Office suite. Experience with online survey platforms is beneficial.
• Independent self-starter, organized, self-disciplined and able to work individually or as part of a team with limited oversight.
• Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills necessary. Examples of written work are requested.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
• Hunting/target shooting/fishing experience is preferred.
• All staff work remotely from locations of their choosing all across the U.S. Experience working in this kind of environment is also preferred.
Compensation:
• Full-time salary commensurate with experience, annual profit share, 401K plus company contributions, health benefits reimbursement plan, paid time off including vacation, holidays, and similar.

Hello all,
We wanted to share the results from our questions last month regarding fishing license sales trends, below.
With 24 states responding, fishing license sales were reported to have dropped an average of 6.3% overall in 2022 compared to 2021, with all states reporting decreased sales. For January through June 2023, reported sales increased an average of 1.3% compared to the first half of 2022, with 16 of 24 states reporting increases.
