I have spore on the EA app and everything works fine. But I can't get creepy and cute to work. I have it bought, installed on my system but whenever I open in, whether it be spore or galactic adventures, it doesn't show up. All my creations are locked and I can't use it's parts in the creature creator. I've tried some troubleshooting, like clearing the cache of the EA app, reinstalling spore, reinstalling the EA app, repairing the app via the launcher's feature, but nothing so far has worked. Anybody that can help me? I've tried contacting support but they haven't helped much.
Ok, I figured it out. I had to install spore in my D drive. If you install it in the C drive it will not work, for some reason. This explains why it only functions off of steam because it was installed in my D drive, but steam didn't have C&C with it.
Thanks for the help!
@Sharples65Yep, I checked that file and it's all there, all the correct file formats and names
I must also add that I followed one of the tutorials that was the first thing that came up when I searched up my issue, which was to just copy and paste the Boosterpack_01 file to the BP1Data folder, so the file is probably left over from me copy and pasting it there, I'm not sure if it's authentic
Also another detail I just discovered is that I can't uninstall spore, when I click uninstall it asks me to allow the uninstaller to run but when I click allow nothing happens. So I go to my control panel to do it there but still, nothing happens. I try uninstalling creepy and cute but nothing happens. But when I uninstall galactic adventures it works fine, same goes for the steam version I have of spore ( I bought spore off of steam and redeemed it on origin )
As for being unable to uninstall Spore and Creepy & Cute, you can simply delete the files associated with it at that specified location. Are you still using Origin? It's been depreciated and now runs under EA App.
Welp I gave it a go. Might I add not the first time because my first thought as to what I could do to rid of the files is to get rid of it manually, but I hadn't tried getting rid of the appdata folder though, I never thought of it because that's where my saves were. Unfortunately it didn't change anything, as I'm still stuck without my precious c&c. Also I already had the EA app installed so I just ignored that step. I also did some more digging on my own as to what could be the issue
I have 2 spore files, one for EA and one for steam, as since I own them on both platforms I have 2 separate files for them. I don't have any expansion packs on steam, on origin is where galactic adventures and creepy and cute is. I originally thought that maybe it wasnt popping up because spore on steam was installed on my D drive but that didn't seem to do it. Theyre both on my C drive now but theyre still in separate folders.
My goal isn't to merge them though I just want my c&c. Whenever I inspect or slightly change the EA folder for spore it doesnt work ( just gives me error 1004 , which I mean I'm not surprised I changed the folders ) the repair feature doesn't work so I reset all the changes I did, still doesn't work so I use the steam version and now both versions suddenly work once I open the steam version. So I use steams repair feature and it tells me "one file was missing and will be corrected" so I go in, No I don't have my c&c and now the EA version doesn't work, its giving me 1004 again. So I go back in the steam version and it works fine but no I dont have c&c. But now the EA version works now that I open steam but no theres still no c&c
Upon reinstalling the game all the mentioned files were in there place in BP1Data
I can understand this is difficult to interpret but its the best I can explain as this is quite the conundrum
You should never have two copies of Spore. Especially on the same drive. The reason for this is because all your graphical, pollination, save files are located at C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Spore - It's been known to cause constant headaches, and maybe that's the reason why your Creepy and Cute parts aren't loading.
Like previously, I'd recommend uninstalling, or deleting all folders. Both from Steam and EA App. I will go through the process once again:
1. Go to C:\Program Files\EA Games - Delete 'Spore' folder.
Then go into the EA App and install Spore, Creepy & Cute first. Then install Galactic Adventures later. All you're doing here is confirming the existance of Creepy and Cute on 'Core Spore', not 'Galactic Adventures'.
I followed the steps, and it seems that spore now wont work without the steam version. I've had this problem before, when I first bought spore off of steam then redeemed it on origin so I could make an account , the origin version wouldn't work if I had uninstalled the steam version, even though I didn't need it, and this was on a different computer. Now that I have uninstalled all the spore files and only installed the game off of the EA app, it won't work. Specifically it's giving me error 1004 "couldn't find default preferences, the data directory is missing or corrupt" and a second one pops up "error 1004 could not find a needed package, the data directory is missing or corrupt" then the game closes.. Unless I install the steam version and open it and it miraculously starts working again, still without creepy and cute though.
@GabrielDoodI had this problem, and have been working on it and reading up. there is a simple answer. Clear the EA app cache, then uninstall Spore and extensions. Install only Spore and Creepy and Cute Parts, then install Galactic Adventures. Works fine now. : )
After days of wrestling with this issue I found a simple solution that worked for me and has resulted in all packs being installed correctly without having to edit the directory or search for missing files.
I own Spore and the Creepy and cute expansion. I installed Spore without incident. I click on the download button for creepy and cute and nothing at all happens. It doesn't start and there is no error. It is as if the button icon isn't working. Ive reloaded my library but that didn't help
You guys need to fix this and stop telling people to do useless troubleshooting steps because I've been at this or waiting for tech support for over 8 hours today to get one minor content pack to work again. EA's digital storefront is a joke. I'm STILL waiting.
Ok I have run into many frustrating problems.
I first install the game, load up spore and well there are no new parts and no new button to press.
I thought I needed the patch, so I got that and installed, Then loaded the game up again and it still said I needed to patch, Again and again I install and update and it still says that there is a new patch( the same patch btw).
Then I got thinking maybe it is because I have spore installed on my secondary drive, So I went to uninstall C&C pack, thinking that maybe the C&C pack got installed on the wrong drive but lone behold I CAN'T DO THAT WITH OUT FIRST UNINSTALLING SPORE!
UUGGG! I just want to play my damn game!
I am not really against uninstalling then reinstalling if I can get my save files out (Looked online where they are and I still can't find them)
If Anyone has any ideas tell me!
I've never had that happen. I'm guessing the logical thing would be to reinstall but that can be a pain in the ass.
I hope you can play soon. I liked playing around with the Creepy and Cute parts (mainly the creepy parts).
The creature above has quite a few of the creepy parts.
It could be that the save file information you got off the internet didn't apply to the OS you were using, on XP it's C:\Documents and Settings\Your user name\Application Data\Spore\My Spore Creations. On Vista it's C:\Users\Your user name\AppData\Roaming\Spore. The other major problem that people seem to have when finding the folder is that the application data folder is hidden by default, so you'll need to have Windows show your hidden folders. For XP, go to "Tools", then "Folder Options...", click "View", check "Show hidden files and folder" and click "OK". For Vista click "Start, then "Control Panel, then "Appearance and Personalization", then "View", then "Advanced settings", check "Show hidden files and folders" and click "OK". You should now be able to find and backup all your save data so that you can uninstall and reinstall the game without losing any creations or progress. I hope this helped.
Uninstalled, Tried reinstalling, grabbed my case and lone behold the game booklet was missing ( has the cd key on it). great.....................
I'm looking through everything in my room right now. But I bet I won't find it. And I want online functionality(well I guess I would not be missing out on much) so I can't just get a key-gen......... This is bullshit, Buying all my stuff on Steam now.
Waas able to find a key online so I got spore reinstalled and I went to go install the C&C pack and it says that there is no Spore installed on my computer.
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggggggg.
What the hell it worked before when it was saved in my F drive. why does it not work now?
