Does anyone have a link to the course?  The one I found said it was no longer a valid site.  Looking for a do-it-yourself endurance challenge, and this looks like a good one because it has multiple loops and a chance to refuel.  I have been stuck in a conference room doing a virtual hearing for days and days unable to get out and have fun, so I need something to look forward to.

I have run this course for several years.  Each year the “course” was different.  It starts out on the Metacomet trail, beginning close to the parking lot, with the official start just before the trail leaves the tarred road and goes to the hiking trail up the hill to the left.

Last year the course followed the Metacomet until just before where the trail came out on a road in Tariffville.  At that point the trail veered off the Metacomet trail, following various side trails for quite a while.  It reconnected with the original Metacomet shortly before the starting point.

Given that the side trail sections vary each year, I doubt you will find an “official” traprock course.  But there would be no problem with following the Metacomet trail all the way to the road in Tariffville, then reversing on the same trail.  It will about the same (17K) distance.  (For the 50K the Traprock did the same loop three times.)

As far as refueling, unless you bring your own or do more than one loop, there is no water or other refreshment on the course.  For the official race they would have 2 water and food stations – one at the parking area before Wilcox park, and one at the turnaround (which last year was at the water towers in the woods at Tariffville).

Thanks for the tips.  I may just wing it.  I have done some loops off the Metacomet that may work.
