Hello, I wanted to know if anyone was still in this group?  I am also a member of the NTDB google group, but with my new role as the state trauma registrar I was hoping people would be interested in participating in this group also.

I'm still in this group, but I think yours is the first email I've gotten from it in years...

Congrats on the new job!!!

What state?

What are your duties?

Thanks Robert! I am the trauma registrar for Texas.  I am still figuring everything out in my new role, one of my duties will be analyzing the submitted data from the hospitals and ems.  I am currently trying to put some benchmark reports together, and wanted to connect with other state trauma registrars.  I am the first person with trauma registry experience in this position, so I am very excited to be able to use my years of experience in this new role.

Seems to me to be very odd that you're the first person with registry experience to take on the role of "State Trauma Registrar".

Maybe over time, you can expand your role to ensuring data consistency across the state.

Hi Aisha,
I still check this group periodically. I'm searching it today to try and find help with our state registry submission! Since the State has made changes so that any blanks in a record cause the entire file to be rejected, we are at a loss as to how to submit our data! I'm wondering how other facilities are handling this? As I'm sure you are aware, due to AIS and ICD10 codes not being completely 1:1, there are occasionally blanks in an AIS code field and this is causing our submission to fail. Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Thanks!

Have you tried using "NA" instead of leaving the field blank?
This has worked very well for me for many years.

Hi Michelle,

I forwarded your e-mail to our Data Analyst who handles the submissions.  I would try what Robert stated also, as that's what I did as registrar.  If you continue to have an issue, please e-mail us at injur...@dshs.texas.gov so that we have your contact information to address this issue in a timely manner.

Thanks,

Aisha
