Rebecca,

In an email in answer to a query about the Tombstone Project and its logo, you refer to it as “can of worms”.

Can you explain exactly what you mean by “a can of worms.”

Thank you

Jana

The Tombstone Project is near and dear to my heart.  I want to see it grow.  Joy Fisher was kind enough to allow me to become the PC.  In most of our Special Projects the PC has complete control of the project.  I do not have much control in our tombstone project.  I am allowed to update the pages and look for new volunteers, transcribe records that are given to me as the PC and such.  But I have been instructed that I must not change the graphics or the design of the pages.  I don't mind not having control- I am a much better assistant than  I am a leader- but the lack of communication between me and the leaders of the tombstone project makes anything I do difficult.   I am encouraged that we revived the pages and put my contact info on all of them so when people reach out they get a quick response, which has been an issue with lots of our XXGenWeb sites.  I try to let everyone in the tombstone project know that I will help and do anything and everything they will allow me to.  I absolutely do not want to see this project fade away.

Thanks Rebecca for taking this on.  Now at least one will have someone to contact that will reply.

I have to wonder if the project suffers from what many others do, mia coordinators?

Rebecca,

Thanks for your response on the TP.  I thought you were talking about something new.

Dating back to almost the beginning of time when Linda Russell did the Archives,  some member seemed to believe that she could walk off with the project and all its data.  Some how she seemed to be pushed out the side door and Joy took over.  Same deal, different person.

Personally, I thought things would change.  They didn’t.  Obviously Joy began working with the Crosby’s on a new system and she with their help took over the whole projects.  Archives and TP.   Big pockets took it all.  So, it really isn’t part of the USGW and it should be.  Your Board doesn’t have any control of it.  So, you are calling it a can of worms which It apparently always be.

Good Luck!
