Nor are Arizona, Colorado, Michigan and Wyoming.  I've been ASC in Washington for over a year and heard nothing about incorporation there, either.

The IAGenWeb project is supported by Friends of IAGenWeb, a 501c3 organization, which is technically incorporated.  The IAGenWeb project itself is not incorporated but feels the 501c3 setup is both in keeping with the goals of the USGenWeb project and the enabling of the IAGenWeb to pay the cost of server space etc of the volunteer organization that it is.

The IAGenWeb project operates under a set of extensive rules but there is no formal organization recognized by State or Federal governments.      

There is no formal organization in the MTGenWeb project, MNGenWeb project or VTGenWeb project.

Some have responded "not that I know of."

It would behoove every SC to search your Secretary of State's list of corporate entities (be creative) to ensure your XXGenWeb has never been incorporated and does not owe fees and penalties for failure to file annual reports.

Pat Asher -- thanks for the informative links.  Those should be included in reference material for all SC's.
