It is with deep personal sorrow that I share with you the passing of Tina Vickery, a founding member, past National Coordinator, past EC chair, and longtime ME and WI state coordinator. I worked with Tina in many capacities since I joined our Project in 2000, and I know she was deeply committed to our Project's success and longevity. As current NC, I hope I can honor her legacy and help to make our Project something to be proud of.

Tina's obituary below is shared to us, with much love, by her dear friend, Betsy Mills. Thank you, Betsy, for being there for her through her hardest time and reminding her she was loved. I hope Tina can now rest peacefully.

On Friday, November 7, 2025, Tina Marie Smith Vickery, 65, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away after a long illness. Before moving to San Antonio, Tina had lived in Paris, Texas, for several years. During that time, she worked for WalMart as a cashier and made many friends there.
Tina was born July 16, 1960, in Gardner, Maine. She grew up on the Cushman Road in Winslow. She graduated from Winslow High School, class of 1978. She continued her education at the University of Maine in Orono. She was a member of the First Congressional Church in Winslow, Maine. She worked for the State of Maine and Walmart in Waterville.
Tina’s greatest passion was researching genealogy–her own and helping others with theirs. She was a member of the Lamar County (Texas) Genealogical Society, where she served as a Librarian until her health forced her to quit. However, she continued helping others by serving as Co-Editor of the Society’s Annual publication, writing several articles every year.
Tina also was part of the USGenWeb Project from its inception in 1996. This project is dedicated to providing free genealogical and historical information about every county in the United States. Tina served as the State Coordinator for MEGenWeb and WIGenWeb. She served on the Board of Directors holding the office of National Coordinator, Representative-at-Large, and County Coordinator Representative. She also served on the Election Committee for several terms and helped maintain several states in the USGenWeb Archives. She left quite a legacy in the genealogy world.
She was predeceased by her parents Victor E. and Florence Fitton Lewis and her twin brother Richard Dale Smith (Charlie Lewis).
She is survived by her two sisters, Jean Lewis Wynne and her children, Randy and Kiley Wynne and their families; and Donna Lewis Boutin and her children, Bryan Dionne, Cori Dionne, and their families, Trevor Boutin, and Bethany Boutin Mosher, and her children, Everett Mosher and Rue Mosher.
A memorial service will be held later, details to be announced. Burial will take place at Green Lawn Cemetery in Clinton, Maine.

Here here! All good thoughts and memories are deeply appreciated, especially for us USGW 'oldtimers'. I am personally still trying to come to terms with this loss of a good life.

Praying for Tina’s dear family & close friends during this time of her loss.
Tina was a definite Important part of the beginning and the growth of the USGenWeb Project.
She was influential to me, as a new member of the Project in the early 2000’s. I remember working with her on the early EC back in that timeframe, too. Thanks to Tina for being there with her expertise and encouragement!
